About the Assignment

Africa Label Group (ALG) is conducting a study on zero-emission urban freight in Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana, commissioned by the Kuehne Climate Center (KCC) and C40 Cities. We are seeking an experienced Field Supervisor to manage a team of three field enumerators conducting primary data collection across freight hubs, wholesale markets, and port-peripheral locations. The Supervisor will report to the Informal-Sector Research Lead, Mr. Opiyo Makoude.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Pre-Fieldwork: Assist in finalizing schedules and site logistics, participate in instrument pre-testing, support enumerator training, and coordinate equipment/logistics.
• During Fieldwork: Oversee enumerators, monitor interview quality, conduct daily data review and debriefs, resolve field challenges, maintain a daily field log, and ensure adherence to research ethics and consent protocols.
• Post-Fieldwork: Compile weekly supervision reports, support data cleaning, and participate in project close-out.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Statistics, Urban Planning, or a related field (postgraduate qualification is an advantage).
• Experience: Minimum three years in field research/survey management (at least one year in a supervisory role). Experience managing enumerator teams in Lagos and conducting qualitative/mixed-methods research with informal sector respondents is strongly preferred. Familiarity with digital data platforms (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK) is required.
• Language: Fluent in English. Fluency in Yoruba and/or Pidgin English is essential.
