Africa Label Group (ALG) is conducting research on zero-emission urban freight in Lagos, Nigeria. We are seeking three field enumerators to support primary data collection for informal freight supply-chain case studies. Enumerators will conduct structured interviews with informal freight operators, market actors, and shippers at key freight hubs and markets across Lagos. Female enumerators are strongly encouraged to apply.Duties and Responsibilities
- Attend a one-day training session on study objectives, data collection tools, and ethical guidelines.
- Conduct structured interviews with approximately 15 informal freight operators per case study.
- Record data accurately using mobile digital tools (e.g., KoboToolbox).
- Perform direct observation at loading/offloading sites to triangulate data.
- Obtain informed verbal consent from all respondents.
- Maintain confidentiality and submit daily raw data files to the Research Lead.
- Participate in daily debriefs with the Field Supervisor to identify emerging findings.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: Minimum Ordinary National Diploma (OND); Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Economics, or related field is an advantage.
- Experience: At least 1 year as a field enumerator or research assistant. Experience with informal sector workers or transport operators is preferred.
- Skills: Familiarity with digital data collection platforms (KoboToolbox/ODK).
- Languages: Fluent in English (written/spoken). Fluency in Yoruba and/or Pidgin English is essential. Igbo or Hausa is an added advantage.
- Attributes: Strong communication skills, ability to work independently in busy environments (markets/roadside), and commitment to research ethics.
