About the Assignment
Africa Label Group (ALG) is conducting a scoping study on zero-emission urban freight in Lagos and Accra, commissioned by C40 Cities and the Kuehne Climate Center. We are seeking two field enumerators to support primary data collection for the Accra deep-dive, including stakeholder interviews, direct observation at freight hubs, and data collection on fleet composition.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Attend a one-day training and orientation session.
  • Assist the Accra City Lead with key-informant interviews involving freight operators, logistics companies, and government officials.
  • Conduct structured observations at logistics hubs (Tema port, Spintex, Achimota, etc.) to profile fleet composition and operations.
  • Administer questionnaires using digital tools (KoboToolbox or equivalent).
  • Record field notes and maintain data confidentiality.
  • Participate in daily debriefs regarding data quality and findings.
  • Assist with logistics for the validation workshop as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum Higher National Diploma (HND); Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Urban Planning, Economics, or Statistics preferred.
  • Experience: At least one year in field research, evaluation, or data collection. Experience in transport/logistics research and familiarity with Accra’s logistics geography is highly advantageous.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with digital data collection platforms (KoboToolbox, ODK, etc.) is required.
  • Languages: Fluent English (written/spoken) and essential Twi fluency. Knowledge of Ga, Fante, or Ewe is an asset.
  • Personal Attributes: Strong communication skills, reliable, independent, and committed to research ethics.
